What is the event about?

Everyone loved the lanterns so much last year, it enhanced the city of Lancaster with the decorations that repersent Chinese cultures.

There will be more than 600 Chinese Lanterns hanging over the Lancaster city center! The hanging period is between 6th January and 7th February 2025. It will be the fourth time hanging Chinese lanterns around the city. We hope everyone enjoys it!

Lanterns hanging during Chinese New Year are said to be lucky.

Some Chinese New Year stories also mentioned that the lanterns frighten away the Nian monster, which, according to legend, is a fierce beast with sharp teeth and horns that would eat both animals and people.

In China, red represents wealth, fame, and prosperity, which is why festivals, weddings, and other celebrations often have a lot of red decorations and outfits. Most Chinese lanterns are red, and lanterns of this color symbolize a prosperous business and a thriving life.

By hanging the lanterns in Lancaster we wish everyone in the city will be good luck, stay healthy, and remind everyone to the reunion with friends and family in the new year.
